I spent last week managing ticketing for kids when I traveled to Orlando for a family vacation with my two nieces; ages 1 and 2 ¾. I am thrilled to share that there are a handful of free tickets for families traveling with kids under 3. I also learned about all of the additional work that comes with “vacationing” with kids under 3.
KIDS ENTER FREE
At Disney World all kids under 3 can enter the parks without a ticket! On Galentine’s Day my wife, SIL, and very tall 2 ¾ year-old niece spent the day at EPCOT. I purchased our 3 adult tickets and walked to the cast member scanning tickets with the birth certificate ready to prove my neice’s age but they didn’t ask any questions. They scanned our magic mobile tickets and helped point us in the direction of the stroller rentals.

KIDS EAT FREE
At Chef Mickey’s restaurant, kids under 3 eat free. One night we all went to Chef Mickey’s to dine with Mickey, Minnie, Donald, Goofy, and Pluto while eating an unlimited buffet. We were grateful to only have to pay for the adult meals, but I am pretty sure the 1-year-old could have eaten more than anyone else and the 2 year old was able to throw out more food than she ate.
KIDS FLY FREE
On our flight, kids under 2 could fly for free on a lap seat. When we first got to the airport we didn’t have a boarding pass for the 1-year-old lap seat. The ticketing agent found it and printed the infant boarding pass. When it was time to go through TSA no one questioned the girls ages or identities but we had documents on hand just in case.

This family vacation to Florida made me see everything through a fresh set of eyes and I’m excited to start buying tickets for our next trip.
